Cuba Dugout is a small independent site about Cuban baseball. This policy describes what happens to your information when you read it. It is written to describe what this site actually does, rather than to cover every eventuality.
The short version
We do not ask you to register, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell anything directly. Unless you write to us, we hold nothing that identifies you. The data that is collected as you browse is collected by Google and Automattic for advertising and audience measurement, under their own policies.
Who we are
This site is cubadugout.com, published by Phil Selig and operated on his behalf by Glen More. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect, and why
When you contact us
If you use the correction form or email us, we receive your message and whatever contact details you choose to give. We keep it to answer you and to fix what you reported. Correction reports may be kept indefinitely as part of the site’s editorial record; we remove personal details on request.
When you simply read the site
- Server and security logs. Our host and the Wordfence security plugin record IP addresses and browser details to keep the site online and block attacks. These are kept for a short period and are not used to build a profile of you.
- Audience measurement. Google Analytics 4 and Jetpack Stats count visits and page views. This tells us which articles are read; it does not tell us who you are.
- Advertising. Google AdSense serves the ads and may use cookies to choose which ones you see. Our Cookie Policy sets this out in detail.
- Content delivery. Images are served through Automattic’s Site Accelerator and the header typeface through Google Fonts. Both receive your IP address in order to send you the file.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run a mailing list or send marketing email.
- We do not accept reader comments — the comment system is switched off.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Legal basis
Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, we rely on legitimate interests for security logging and basic audience measurement, and on consent for personalised advertising. Where you have written to us, we process your message to respond to you.
Sharing
We do not share your information with anyone except the service providers named in this policy and our Cookie Policy, and where we are required to by law.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or complain to a regulator. Our Your Data Rights page explains exactly how, and how long we take.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page.
