Matanzas vs Las Tunas Game 2 Live

The Cuban National Series Playoffs continue with Matanzas vs Las Tunas Game 2. It is live via cubadugout Monday, March 8th, 2021 at 1pm. The series pits the last 2 league champions agains each other. Las Tunas took game one 4-2 in a tight contest.

The game was close throughout despite the fact that the Leñadores grabbed the lead in the first inning and never surrendered it. Andrés Quiala jumped on a Yoennis Yera offering for a solo home run in the first. The scoring saw teams alternate runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings. The game was tied until the Lumberjacks broke through for good with two runs in the eighth.

Veteran Andrés Quiala is in his 20th Cuban National Series and his early home run qualifies as a surprise. The 39 year old outfielder entered the day with 25 career round trippers. His career high for a season is 4, but baseball history is dotted with surprise performances. Will Matanzas vs Las Tunas Game 2 have similar surprise performances?

The starting pitchers continued the trend of older starters grinding to keep their teams in the game. Yoennis Yera was again let down by his defence but worked his way through 8 innings taking the loss but it was hardly his fault. Carlos Juan Viera threw a complete game for Las Tunas, bending but not breaking. Neither starter is going to set records with the radar gun but used deception all day to keep the opposing bats inline.
