Victor Mesa Jr Player Profile

Victor Mesa Jr is the son of a Cuban baseball legend. He is also the brother of Marlins prospect Victor Victor Mesa. The Marlins made a big splash in signing both as the top prizes in the 2018 International signing period. Victor Jr. received $1.25 million which in some ways felt like a caddy contract to his brother’s larger deal. The younger impressed during his debut pro season in 2019 and now sits at #14 in the Marlins prospect system.

Victor Mesa Jr. OF Miami Marlins

Mesa Jr started out in Extended Spring Training in the spring of 2019 before being promoted to the Florida Gulf Coast Rookie league. The teenager impressed and put up decent numbers showing advance plate discipline for a player his age. I personally had the opportunity to catch him in action in the spring of 2019 in Jupiter, Florida and came away impressed. The youngsters path to the Majors might be the new formula for Cubans. He played for the Cuban National Junior team but most of his development will now come in the American professional system.
