What happened
Cuba opened the Super Round against Venezuela and were beaten 11–0. Venezuela went on to win the tournament, shutting out Mexico 4–0 in the final on 2 October. Cuba did not recover: they lost to Colombia the following day and finished the Super Round 2–3.
Venezuela were the team of the tournament. They came through the Super Round at 4–1 and then shut out the hosts 4–0 in the final on 2 October to take gold. This 11–0 win over Cuba was the most one-sided result of Cuba’s campaign, and it set the tone for a Super Round in which Cuba won once in three.
