What happened
A second straight Super Round defeat left Cuba needing help to reach the final. They beat Panama 9–8 on 1 October to finish the round 2–3, which put them in the bronze medal game — against Colombia again.
Colombia’s tournament was the story of the week. They finished the Super Round 3–2, then beat Cuba again on 2 October to win the bronze medal — the first medal Colombia had ever won at a U-23 Baseball World Cup. Cuba, who had won five of their first six games, met them twice in three days and lost both.
